
With the advent of the Clean Air Act and The Smokers Charter,
Ventilation has become more important than ever before.
Secondary Smoking is a big issue especially to the Staff who
work in Pubs and Clubs and owners must now show that they
are working towards a safer working environment for their
employees. Ventilation Compartmentation has become an art
to ensure that smokers can enjoy a cigarette without effecting
those who do not wish to share the habit.

Design Ltd has installed a vast number of systems ranging
from simple extract only to heat reclaim and fresh air supply
systems primarily in bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants.
We also specialise in Kitchen ventilation systems comprising
of Canopies, ductwork, fans and Odour Control and Fire Suppression
systems.
Systems can comply with any Fire Officer, BAA or Local
Authority requirements.
An increasing number of Local Authorities are insisting
on odour control to kitchen extract systems due the danger
of Odour nuisances to local residence.
Odour Control can take many forms, we have installed carbon
filters, Electrostatic precipitators and odour neutralisers
and well as the latest UV odour removal system and water
wash filters.
It
is now also a legal requirement for all new commercial kitchen
installations to be fitted with a forced, filtered fresh
air system to replace the air removed by the extract.
Another legal requirement recently implemented is an integrated
gas control system linked into the extract system to ensure
that new commercial kitchens cannot operate when the extract
is not operating.
Summit Design Ltd has developed a control system especially
for this purpose which conforms to BS 6163.
We have carried out smoke exhaust extract systems to Section
20 buildings; again, this can be a requirement of the Local
Authority.
We have also carried out ventilation to obscure installation
such as:

- Printing works solvent fume extract.
- Spray Booth extract.
- Wood waste extract.
