A perfect blend of air with old-fashioned European elegance

Summit Design, as experts in air, are pleased to have completed worked for Corbin & King restaurants for the launch of their brand new Bellanger grand café, located in the heart of Islington, providing a much highly valued air conditioning and ventilation solution with this venue transformation.

Yet another great London restaurant for Summit Design recently completed, this 195 cover restaurant offers an all-day brasserie with classic menu to match. After the success of the Corbin & King’s The Wolseley café, Bellanger’s interior is very much a contemporary twist, based on a rich, old-fashioned European elegance where they have opened up the front of the dining room, added a semi-private dining alcove and put booths all down one side.

The cuisine itself offers classic Alsatian overtones, with dishes including tartes flambées, choucroute, coq au Riesling as well as favourites like schnitzel and sausages whilst also offering number of tempting sharing dishes.

Summit Design were brought in to transform the air-conditioning by stripping out the 16 year old plant installation, for a full replacement, by bringing in crane work to take out the old plant and usher in the new. Such focus required surveys, checking on any hidden basements, then bringing in the crane to put the air conditioning into place. The full project involved the plant replacement, installation of 23 air conditioning units, 100kw condenser on the roof as well as a 25 kw DX Cooler in the kitchen.

In true tradition of Summit’s involvement, not a corner was missed, including 2 very bespoke Halton Canopies, the Lynx extract system, as well as new boiler and full hot and cold water services.

The tight deadlines met allowed the turn around for the December Launch of Bellanger’s, complementing the beautiful architecture and design with its light and handsome, Belle Époque style.

Providing air conditioning and environment for the handsome Front Room helps enable the perfect opportunity and experience of enjoying views through the large, fold-back windows that look out onto Islington Green. Surrounded by the warm, glossy wood panelling that lines the walls, the airy experience also adds to comfort and feeling of opulence that includes bevelled mirrors, antique wall lamps and chandeliers.

One can enjoy the subtle woven blue banquettes or even high bar stool seating amidst standing room which also leads to the intimate, carpeted Upper Room. For drinks, whether enjoying the principally French-based wine list, and focus on North Eastern France and the border region with Germany, you can enjoy one of the 4 Meteor beers on tap or even a champagne cocktail. Of course, if you are an early bird, brunch is also on the menu too!
